I have a BIG issue with saving, like a really, really big issue!
But I also know that it’s a problem and I’m going to try my very best to fix it.
Recently, I’ve come across two totally different, but both very exciting ways, to help me save my money, instead of spending it all away. (Especially since my birthday is slowly creeping up on me! It’s Sept 9th in case you were wondering! Lol)
I’m usually selfish with the things I love, but these are so great I HAD to tell everyone!
Here are my two new ways to save money (that hopefully work):
Putting spare change in a tin can labeled with the reason I’m saving.
(You can use a piggy bank if you want, but I found this tin in Target for $1 so I bought it instead of a traditional piggy bank. I’m grown I don’t need a pig! Lol)
I have no clue where I read this amazing tip, but whatever, that’s not the most important issue at hand right now. What’s really important is what I’ve learned! I learned that if you label (my tin or your piggy bank) with the reason you’re saving (see photo above for an example) you’re more likely to save since you have a specific reason to. It has something to do with emotions and blah. I don’t know, I don’t care, I just hope this WORKS! (Lol)
Using Digit to automatically save money.
So I learned about this website from My Fab Finance and I’m way too excited about this!
Apparently Digit automatically transfers money from your checking account to a Digit savings account by calculating when your bills are due, when you get paid, and then figuring out what you don’t really need and putting it away for you.
I find this uh-mazing because for people like me, who can’t seem to stop spending and buying unnecessary things, Digit may save the same $1.99 I was going to spend on that Latte I don’t really need, before I even get a chance to spend it. With less money in my checking account, I’ll be less tempted to spend it and with my memory, I’m probably going to forget it’s being saved. (Well I’m hoping I forget, so that way I won’t be tempted to take it out.) This way, I should be able to save a bit without even thinking about it. (Hell, I might even loose some weight doing this, since most of my money is usually spent on food, snacks or lattes. Lol)
Now how freaking amazing is that people? (I dare you to say other wise. Lol)
Hopefully these ideas work, and if they do (or even if they don’t) I’ll post another blog post about it, letting you guys know what happened. If you’ve used any of these ideas before, or if you have any other saving tips you’d like to share, go ahead and leave a comment below and let me know. (Puh-leeze! I could totally use all the tips and help I can get. Lol)
